Acute subclavian steal syndrome following blunt thoracic trauma.

چکیده
Injury of the subclavian artery following trauma is an uncommon finding. Hughes (1958) reported 304 vascular injuries in Korean war casualties but in only three of these was rupture of the subclavian artery documented. Chandler and Knapp (1967) reported the operative repair of 126 vascular injuries in 118 casualties in Vietnam. Only one subclavian artery injury was found, an incidence of 0-8 %. The reported experience with civilian injuries of the subclavian artery is limited. Carlsson and Silander (1963) described two cases of right traumatic subclavian aneurysm. Brawley, Murray, Crisler, and Cameron (1970), reporting 20 injuries involving the great vessels arising from the aortic arch, found 12 subclavian lesions. DeMeules, Cramer and Perry (1971) described 15 injuries of the aortic arch and great vessels. Two subclavian lacerations were reported in this group. We report a case of acute subclavian steal syndrome following blunt thoracic trauma treated by aortosubclavian Dacron bypass prosthesis.

Traumatic right proximal subclavian artery pseudoaneurysm treated with a hybrid procedure: A case report.
Blunt trauma to the right proximal subclavian artery is uncommon and tends to be associated with pseudoaneurysm formation. We report a patient with right proximal subclavian artery pseudoaneurysm after blunt chest trauma following a motor vehicle accident. The condition was successfully treated with a combined insertion of a covered stent and carotid-carotid bypass as a hybrid procedure. Duplex...
متن کاملSubclavian artery and jugular vein rupture after a blunt thoracic trauma due to a BMX handlebar.
A 14-year-old BMX driver suffered a blunt trauma towards the lateral neck (Fig. 1). A computed tomography (CT) angiography revealed a dye stop in the left subclavian artery with collateral blood flow (Fig. 2). Interventional catheterisation revealed a rupture. However, no peripheral pulse deficit was evident, and, therefore, no immediate vascular surgery was performed. www.elsevier.com/locate/e...
متن کاملUrgent endovascular stenting of subclavian artery pseudoaneurysm caused by seatbelt injury.
S artery injury in blunt trauma is uncommon. The surgical repair of such an injury can be a major challenge. Because penetrating injuries are more common, many trauma surgeons have relatively little experience in dealing with blunt subclavian artery injury. This case is the first report of acute or immediate endovascular repair with pseudoaneurysm stenting of the subclavian artery, as a result ...
متن کاملA Case of Cerebellar Infarction Caused by Acute Subclavian Thrombus Following Minor Trauma
Subclavian steal syndrome caused by an acute thrombus is very rare. We present a case of cerebellar infarction with proximal subclavian artery thrombosis. A 56-year-old woman was admitted for sudden vertigo. One day prior to admission, she received a shoulder massage comprised of chiropractic manipulation. On examination, her left hand was pale and radial pulses were absent. Blood pressure was ...
متن کاملDiagnosis of traumatic mediastinal hematoma with transesophageal echocardiography.
In patients with blunt chest trauma, early diagnosis of mediastinal hematoma is important, because it could be associated with thoracic vessel injury. Mediastinal hematoma is generally evoked because of a widened mediastinum on chest radiograph, but radiologic diagnosis may lead to excessive angiography being performed. Transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) provides accurate views of the media...
